Incredible Marrakech

Finally, for the very first time we set our foot on the African continent, more precisely on Northen Africa, Marrakech. It is the fourth largest city of the Kingdom in Marocco. The word Marrakech it self taken from the Berber words “amur (n) akush” which mean “Land of God”.

No wonder why they named it like that, the beauty of surrounding landscape begins with snow-capped Atlas mountains, the “Red Walls” of the city, the busiest square in around Africa Jemaa el-Fnaa, the famous Souks, Koutoubia Mosque, beautiful Gardens, Magnificent Historical Architectures of Ben Youssef madrasa, Palaces, and Riads.

Majorelle garden

When we stepped in into this magical Souk, our eyes were distracted by so many beautiful and exotic such as carpets, lamps, leather poufs, spices, and other colourful things . Without realising it, we were drifted through the magic Labyrinth inside the souk, and suddenly appeared in the middle of it. Which there, we had the best grilled lamb which cooked traditionally inside the underground stove, they served it with a slice of bread, tomato, olives, and a pinch of caraway seed.

We don’t need a proper map to discover the souk, just enjoy the lost in this magical Labyrinth, although we still need to be careful for the swindlers which hanging around, whose offering a way out, but with asking a lots of money in return. But, again what is a Souk without a bargain and a little bit of adventure.

At the time we decided to visit Marrakech, the first thing on my head, was i need to find a perfect Riad. Because, what is a visit to Marrakech without staying in Riad. Riad is a type of traditional Moroccan house or Palace with an interior garden. Riads were the stately city homes of the wealthiest citizens. But now they often open it as a guest house which offer more private and exclusive accommodation rather than hotels.

What is unique about staying in Riad, is not only because of their beautiful architecture and design, but also since it’s placed mostly in a common neighbourhood which you have to go through a small alley first to find their secret door. And when you’ve found that small door, first, you’ll have a sceptic thinking, but when that small door open wide and you see through it, your eyes will be amazed by the beauty of the surrounding view of the details from their architecture and design, it felt like you’re entering a fairy tail life story. And to choose one from many of beautiful Riads, it was the hardest part, since i cannot decided only one, i want to stay in all these beautiful Riads. So at the end, we decided to stay in two different Riads for this time of visit. And these two Riads, are one of our Favourites.

Pineapple Jam – Pastry

It has been more than two years since i wrote my latest post for my blog.

There is always a way to turn the Lemon into a Lemonade, and it works also the same for  me in this whole world wide crisis situation that we are dealing it at the moment, which i really need a lots of distractions to keep my sane in place. I need to add something sweet into this situation, so i decided to make my homemade Pineapple Jam pastry for my first comeback post.

I am not a baked person, trust me. Each time i tried to bake some cake, even from the backing mix where you can easily bought from the Supermarkt, without even have to measure by your self each of the ingredients, still…it ain’t never work.

But, … this is where the challenge is. The happiest of our bellies is the most top priority above all, so i always need to find a thousand kind of way to enjoy our favourite cake or pastry, or even create it, without burning the house.

And this one is very easy and fast, and it is a perfect companion for your coffee or tea and a nice chat, so here are the steps and the ingredients that you’ll need for our delicious Pineapple Jam Pastry.

Pineapple Jam.1IMG_88756

  • 1,5 or 2 pieces of Pineapple
  • a pinch of salt, a bunch of luck
  • puff pastry
  • 1 yellow egg
  • 1 spoon melted butter

The Jam

  • clean and cut the Pineapple, and mix it in the food processor, we are using it rather than blender because we love it when the jam has a little bit of crunchy texture and not too smoothy
  • add a pinch of salt
  • heat the pineapple pulp until there is dry and no more water in it, you can add white sugar if you like it to be more sweet, but we love it when the taste more original from the pineapple it self, a bit of sweet and sour
  • turn down the heat into medium, cook it until it’s dry and sticky

The Pastry

  • pre heat the oven with 200 C
  • prepare the puff pastry, cut it into square
  • you need to keep the pastry moist, because when it’s dry, it will turn into a paper and it will be hard to form it
  • try not using too much layers of pastry, since it will not gonna be too moist when you baked it. Then apply melted butter on the surface and add a tablespoon of pineapple Jam, and fold it
  • apply the yellow egg on the surface of the folded pastry to create a nice brown looks when you bake it
  • bake the pastry for about 20 minutes, until it turns to goldy colour , then apply melted butter on the surface, then bake it again for about another 5 until 10 minutes

Voila,… the Crunchy Pineapple Jam pastry are ready.

For Tips, you can also replace the Pineapple jam to a banana or any other your favourite fruits jam.

Latins Quarter

Strolling the colorful alley in this Latin quarter Downtown of our city always fascinating me. With all the painted warm colours of walls, street art, buildings with full of cool Gravity and the famous Portuguese Restaurant at the corner which always busy and crowded with the people whose craving for their authentic tasty foods and their rusty lofty old-time vintage interior with warm greetings from the crew while their serve us with their soft bread and olives and creamy Aioli bring more vibes to the ambient which gave us a feeling that we are indeed like sitting in the middle of the city somewhere in the warm of Portugal.

Bare (healthy) Face

While the others are busy learning and focusing them self with Contouring techniques, I challenge my self to do the other way around, since i’m not a make up freak, my interest to learn those make up and other complicated layering and covering your face kind of skills is very low, even none.

I used to have oily skins, but since i moved to Europe, my skins getting rough and dry. I blamed it to the weather here. Too long Winter time and less Summer breeze or maybe just because of natural aging (skip this one) makes my skin more sensitive and dry and making me obsessed with all the skincares that very tempting screaming and promising (i’m weak for that) out there.

I never afraid of getting old or even have a wrinkles. For me it’s a natural kind of way to remind us that we are growing and tell us that we are a human being. What is more important for me is that i can have a healthy, dewy and glowy face skins. Since my skins are very sensitive, I love every products which contain natural ingredients, or less (even without) chemical, without paraben and also without animal testing.

And these are the products that i’m currently screaming on:

Step 1. The Origins Clean Energy Cleansing Oil

This Korean Brand Skincare is blowing the whole rating Online. One of my true reason to try their products. This is a very soft cream, very light and without Fragrance, which perfect for my sensitive skin. After a few times, i recognized that my skin is getting softer and the redness is start to vanish.
